June interview with IndianaStartup.com

Below is an excerpt from an interview with one of our co-founders, Colin Mathews on IndianaStartup.com. The interview was in June, but we forgot to share it here!

What made you first believe that starting a business is right for you (i.e. as opposed to working for someone else)

I’ve been a creator since I was a kid: one of my first inventions was a reusable band-aid (which wasn’t such a big hit with adult audiences), and the clubs I started with my friends collected taxes and had loan services. I always knew that I’d have to run my own business to be truly satisfied, and every professional move I’ve made since has been another step in that direction. For me, having my own business is just about finding equilibrium.

Comments on: The ABCs of Cloud-Based Practice Tools

Law Firm Collaboration/Communication Examples: PBworks Legal Edition (http://pbworks.com/legaltour) and Dialawg (www.dialawg.com). There are numerous SaaS-based collaboration and communication tools available, but only a few have specific features for lawyers, like added security, detailed audit tracking and electronic deal rooms.

Here is a mention of our services in a well-written piece by the ABA regarding "software in the cloud." It's a good read for anyone wanting to know more about what the "cloud" means and what benefits it can provide.

One of the most important topics is comparing data security to bank security. It's generally considered safer to keep your money in a (trusted) bank than in your home. Similarly, as long as you choose software providers that are honest, trustworthy, and who offer fair terms of service, your data is much safer stored "in the cloud" than on your desktop.
